It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda practitioners use a variety of methods to promote and restore balance, including diet, herbal medicine, yoga, and meditation.

One of the key principles of Ayurveda is that everyone is made up of three different doshas, or energy types: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Each dosha is associated with different physical and mental characteristics. For example, Vata is the dosha of air and space, and it is associated with creativity, flexibility, and movement. Pitta is the dosha of fire and water, and it is associated with intelligence, metabolism, and digestion. Kapha is the dosha of water and earth, and it is associated with structure, stability, and immunity.

Ayurvedic practitioners believe that when the doshas are in balance, the person is healthy. However, if the doshas become imbalanced, the person may experience illness or disease. Ayurveda practitioners use a variety of methods to identify and correct imbalances, such as pulse reading, tongue examination, and urine analysis.
